Tales of Arise: No Plans for a Sequel

Tales of Arise is a great game. One of the highest rated games on Game Informer of 2021, with a score of 9.25 out of 10. That’s why it’s easy to imagine a sequel or a sequel. Although it ends up pretty good, all things considered. But it doesn’t sound like there is one on the card.

In a new interview with Edge Magazine, Tales of Arise producer Yusuke Tomiwaza said that as GamesRadar reported, a sequel won’t happen. Tomiwaza mentioned the team developing Arise in a way that didn’t require a sequel, noting that he hopes the story will be completed “with a good aftertaste” when players get credit, so that no sequel is needed at all.

Tomizawa goes on to say that the studio “wants to continue the challenge of gaining new fans for the further expansion of JRPGs,” adding, “To do that, “we need to come up with cutting-edge flagship titles.” It builds on the success of Arise while providing an opportunity to rediscover the history of the series.”

As GamesRadar points out, the absence of a sequel to Arise isn’t necessarily the worst news for fans. Because, as fans of the series know, we only have a few more Tales games left. It contains 17 major games over 20+ years, so it’s safe to say that other Tales games are likely to be released.
