Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is currently the most successful video game film of all time in the United States, and at least by number at the box office.

Now grossing over $331 million at the worldwide box office, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is now one of the highest-grossing video game films of all time. Interestingly enough, this record comes from the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie to set a record after recording box office sales of $317.1 million in 2020, according to a press release.

The news that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the highest-grossing video game film in US history comes as little surprise. According to the press release, “The film’s gross U.S. box office gross exceeded $16.74 million, surpassing that of its predecessor, $148.97 million, breaking the previous record for the highest-grossing video game-based film adaptation ever recorded.” the data said. “It also surpassed its predecessor by grossing $168.9 million internationally and reaching $331.6 million worldwide.”
