Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Updates Allow Trade with Strangers

With Arceus Legends and the surprise announcement of a scarlet/violet version in late 2022, it’s easy to forget that Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released last fall and are still going strong. The Sinnoh Regional Remake is packed with content for dedicated trainers, from special Easter eggs to other fun and varied gifts. Yesterday’s new Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl updates followed, allowing you to trade with strangers. Also, for players looking to fill the ever-expanding Pokédex, you’ll encounter two mythical Pokémon.

VGC reports that Jubilife City’s Global Wonder Station is finally open. In the past, the NPC would say “I’m sorry. GWS is not ready yet.” Players now have access to GWS, allowing unlimited trades. What does this mean? Well, prior to yesterday’s 1.3.0 update, players could only trade with each other if they both entered the Global Union Room and submitted the same link code. GWS procures trading points that match the traders closest to the chosen location.

Equally exciting is two mythical Pokémon joining the fight. After acquiring the mysterious gift item, you can meet Arceus and Darkrai (see above). To face Arceus, you’ll need a Legends Arceus save file with all major missions cleared. You must also be enrolled in the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Halls of Fame while owning the National Pokédex. Once these qualifications are met, return to your room to earn Azure Flute. You can summon Arceus by going to the spear pillar at the top of Coronet Mountain.

Similarly, to meet Darkrai, you will need the aforementioned Diamond and Pearl honors and a membership card item “usable between the new moons”. Go to Newmoon Island and fight Dark-type creatures. You’ll need the 1.3.0 update to get one of these mythical Pokémon, so check it out first.
