PlayStation stops all sales and shipping in Russia to support Ukraine
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it is suspending all sales and shipments of hardware and digital products in Russia amid the continuing invasion of Ukraine.
Along with dozens of other studios and publishers that have done the same for Microsoft and Nintendo, PlayStation is showing its support for Ukraine by effectively blocking Russia from services and titles. Along with the news, the SIE issued a statement to The Verge, calling for peace in Ukraine.
“Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has joined the global community calling for peace in Ukraine,” said a spokesperson. “We have stopped shipping all software and hardware, launching Gran Turismo 7, and operating the Russian PlayStation Store.”
The spokesperson also said Sony has announced that it will donate $2 million to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the NGO Save Children to support those affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
