New League of Legends Rhythm Game Hextech Mayhem Announced and Coming to Netflix

Riot Games has announced the League of Legends Story Hextech Mayhem, a new rhythm-based game coming to Switch and PC next week.

Revealed today, Hextech Mayhem is described by Eurogamer as a “fast-paced rhythm runner” by Riot set in the League of Legends universe. That’s especially happening in Piltover and there will be plenty of bombs in the city, courtesy of the Ziggs.

“From Choice Provisions comes Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story. A fast-paced rhythm runner set in Piltover, where every action is explosive and there’s not too much mayhem,” explains the announcement trailer. . “Play as the Ziggs on a quest to beat Heimerdinger where no pleasure is allowed and create the greatest bomb the world has ever seen.”

As mentioned in the description, Bit. Trip Runner developer Choice Provisions, who is also the studio behind the Runner series, is developing Hextech Mayhem. Interestingly, it seems to indicate that Riot continues to be Nintendo-inspired and allows third-party developers (especially those who more distort indie) to develop games generally set in the world of their own IP. Nintendo did this with Brace Yourself Games, and their rhythm was adapted to Cadence of Hyrule’s Legend of Zelda.

According to Eurogamer, Riot’s own publisher, Riot Forge, is dedicated to releasing games set in the League of Legends universe, “all developed by non-Riot studios”. Hextech Mayhem is also from Riot Forge.

Another interesting thing about Hextech Mayhem is that it will launch next week on Switch and PC on November 16th. But after that, it will be on Netflix, Riot told Eurogamer. This seems to suggest that Netflix and Riot’s League of Legends relationship will continue beyond the arcane series currently airing. With the animated arcane series set in the world of League of Legends being really well-received by critics and fans alike, it’s not surprising that the two hope the relationship continues.
