Gran Turismo 7 Is Back Online And Polyphony Digital Apologizes And Will Fix Microtransactions
Gran Turismo 7 is back online after being essentially unplayable for more than 24 hours since the previous update.
In a new blog post, GT7 producer Kazunori Yamauchi explains why maintenance windows that were supposed to last for hours lasted longer than a day. He said, shortly before the release of the 1.07 update that made GT7 largely unplayable, Polyphony Digital said, “We have discovered issues with the game not starting properly in some cases in the product versions for PS4 and PS5.”
“This was a rare issue we didn’t see in our pre-launch development hardware tests or QA sessions, but we have decided to stop releasing the 1.07 update because the safety of our users’ save data is our top priority. , performing the 1.08 fix update. That is the reason for the delay. We sincerely apologize for the delay in reporting to everyone.”
Then Yamauchi handles the microtransactions on the GT7. In Update 1.07, the number of in-game credits earned by completing some tracks and races in the game has been reduced, making it more difficult to buy cars. While some thought this was to push microtransactions further in the game, Yamauchi says the team wants “users to be able to enjoy many cars and races without microtransactions.”
He added, “At the same time, the price of a car is an important factor in conveying its value and scarcity, so I think it is important to link it with the real world price.” “I want to make GT7 a game where different cars can be enjoyed in different ways, and if possible, I want to avoid situations where players have to mechanically repeat certain events over and over. A specific track was used to build credit and was the target track for update].”
According to the blog post, the studio will inform players of plans to update additional content, race events, and features to “constructively address this issue”.
Yamauchi writes, “It’s a pity we can’t go into details about this at this time, but we plan to continue tweaking the GT7 to make the game enjoyable for as many players as possible.” “It would be really appreciated if you could watch the growth of Gran Turismo 7 from a longer-term perspective.”
