Game Awards break new record with viewer ratings in 2021

The Game Awards are breaking their own records every year, and the show in 2021 was no different.

Last year’s Game Awards 2020 had over 83 million viewers and this year it’s estimated at 85 million via “Global Live Stream”. As with previous awards ceremonies, this year’s event was live streamed on over 30 digital networks worldwide including YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.

According to the press release, “On Twitter, The Game Awards delivered a record 1.6 million tweets about the 2021 event, an all-time high.” “The show topped the global chart for the eighth year in a row, and at the peak of the conversation, it peaked at #11 on the Top 30 Global Trends.”

YouTube set a new record for watch time, with over 1.75 million watch hours on major Game Awards streams, not including co-streams. This is a 14% increase over the previous year. Fan votes reached 23.2 million, a 27% increase over the previous year.

Game Awards Producer and Host Geoff Keighley said, “We are grateful to return to face-to-face in 2021 and continue to advance our success through significant international growth in 2021.”
