EXO One Launches PS5, PS4 This Summer With 120FPS and DualSense Haptic Support
Exbleative’s Exo One, which was popular for its science-fiction character when it hit Xbox consoles and PCs last year, arrives on PlayStation consoles this summer.
Announced via the PlayStation blog, Exo One creator Jay Weston shared a new trailer for the game, along with support for 120FPS gameplay and DualSense haptic feedback. EXO One plans to release the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 simultaneously this summer, but an official release date has not yet been announced.
Weston wrote on the blog, “Hello everyone, we’re excited to announce that EXO-ONE will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this summer. EXO-ONE started out as a relatively simple idea five years ago. Using gravity as motion mechanics,” Weston wrote on his blog. And I was inspired by my love for sci-fi movies and games that emotionally touched me, which gradually grew into something strange and special about this PS5 port.
“In Exo One, you become the pilot of an extraterrestrial rover and embark on a journey beyond the solar system, discovering everything from Earth’s deserts to dreamy gas giants. Glide across the landscape and control gravity itself to reach incredible speeds and exciting heights. You will always be drifting towards the glowing blue rays of the horizon as you ride thermal updrafts into boiling clouds, round hillsides, and take off from mountaintops.”
Weston says the game has been designed with a “meditative focus on travel”, which is very clear when playing. There are a few moments in the game that could be described as stressful, but the heart of Exo One is a generally laid-back, line-like traversal through a beautiful sci-fi environment, with an extreme focus on simply moving forward as much as possible. That’s why Weston designed a game where there is no timer to measure your progress, no monsters or enemies to fight.

When the Exo One launches on PS5, you’ll experience 120FPS gameplay as long as you have a high refresh rate TV that can handle it. Additional features include haptics that reflect the terrain and weather of each planet on the PS5 DualSense controller. Weston says players will feel wind resistance on the trigger on the controller as they glide through the wind and updrafts. Also, different terrains have different vibrations involved. One type of terrain can produce “steady pulsations” and another type can give “stronger, less shaky vibrations,” Weston writes in his blog post. The higher the speed, the stronger the vibration.
