Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Comes to Life for the First Time on PC

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, which was re-released for consoles earlier this year, finally arrives on PC today. No, it’s not kind of a reboot from this summer. It’s a very different game, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. We are talking about OG! It’s been a 20-year journey that an action RPG, first released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001, has seen ports on Xbox and Gamecube, but so far not supported by Windows.

Although the shop description says they use the 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons rule set, Dark Alliance plays more like Diablo than the more strategic Baldur’s Gate title. As one of three characters representing the Archer, Fighter, and Sorceress class, you will battle a mysterious horde of minions and quest through Black Isle Studios’ version of Forgotten Realms.

This updated release brings higher resolutions (up to 4K!), solo or co-op play, full controller support on PC. For those of you reading this who prefer to play on console, you’re in luck. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance is also available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch.

And now we are patiently waiting for Dark Alliance 2 to appear on our current hardware. Again, we’re not talking about a sequel to this summer’s game of a similar name.
