Arcade1Up Announces Pro Series Cabinets With Bigger Killer Instinct Machines

Arcade1Up, a manufacturer of affordable arcade cabinets that are sized to fit in your home, is expanding its product line to offer larger life-size machines for collectors who want a more realistic arcade experience.

The first in Arcade1Up’s Pro series cabinet line will feature a handful of games centered around Rare’s classic fighter, the Killer Instinct. But it’s not the gaming slate that sets the Pro Series apart from its contemporaries. It is the composition of the cabinet itself.

Arcade1Up’s traditional home arcade machines are between 47 and 57 inches tall, depending on whether they are seated on risers that raise them. The Killer Instinct Pro Series cabinet is 67.5 inches (5 feet 6 inches) tall, almost a foot taller than a regular cab with risers installed. The monitor is also larger at 19 inches compared to the standard 17-inch screen on the Arcade1Up. Added other premium lighting marquees, faux chrome trim, molded fake coin slots, upgraded joystick and “wider spacing between components to improve precision”. Comfortable sitting play not bad!

Of course, you can’t enjoy the big vertical gamebox itself without the game. The Killer Instinct Pro Series cabinet contains both arcade Killer Instinct titles and Rare’s classic Battletoads games. Some or all of the games support online multiplayer, but it is not specified which games are supported.

It’s great to see Arcade1Up offer extra elbow space, a bigger screen, or a cabinet closer to the standard size you’ll find in real arcades for those who want to play games without bending over. Glad to see a series that follows KI in its Pro configuration. My fingers are crossed for NBA Jam, NFL Blitz or Marvel Vs Capom 2. Arcade1Up’s website doesn’t currently list pricing, but expect this new product line to hit the company’s ~$500 price point and beyond.
