Announced Salt And Sacrifice Release Date With Updated PvP System

Twitter on PlayStation has been making indie announcements all morning, and Devoured Studios’ latest game Salt and Sacrifice joined the party with a PS blog post about PvP and a clever announcement about a May 10 release date.

Like its predecessor and From Software’s Souls game, Salt and Sacrifice gives players the option to invade other people’s worlds and disrupt their progress through PvP combat. Your mission as an Inquisitor is to rid the world of wizards who have succumbed to chaos and become agents of chaos. Depending on which faction you’ll choose through your adventure, such as the overzealous Shroud Alliance, you can even aim for direct combat with players.

Those who take the oath of Blueheart Runners will invade for very different reasons. Bluehearts are tasked with making the lives of players who call the game world home, even more hell, by hunting down “mist-tainted creatures” that spawn even more dangerous monsters in their rifts. For this reason, Salt and Sacrifice director James Silve strongly recommends getting rid of these pesky intruders quickly.

Silva has made it clear that PvP will not be needed in Salt and Sacrifice. He said, “I know a significant number of players have less than zero interest in PvP. It’s very fun, but not for everyone, and we respect that.” And it’s really fun, especially with improved mobility and combat for more dynamic PvP encounters. Inquisitors can use tools such as hooks to compress and flip around their surroundings, or to negate heavy falls and knockdowns. Sprints and sprint attacks, along with runes like spells, will also diversify the threats you and your opponents have at your disposal.

Salt and Sacrifice will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on May 10th. For more soul-like merits, we’re giving away the Elden Ring cover story for free.
